Administrative History
Chokli Grama Panchayat is situated in the Panoor Block of Thalassery Taluk in Kannur District, Kerala. The Panchayat falls within the jurisdiction of Chokli Village and has a total geographical area of 11.98 square kilometres.
The boundaries of the Panchayat are:
- East: Panoor Municipality
- South: Mayyazhi River (Mahe River)
- West: New Mahe Grama Panchayat and the Union Territory of Puducherry (Mahe)
- North: Pannyannur Grama Panchayat and Panoor Municipality
Chokli Grama Panchayat was formed in 1979 by merging the former Menapram and Olavilam Panchayats. During the reorganization in 1979, the areas of Pallipram, Peringadi, and Mangad, which were originally part of Chokli Panchayat, were transferred to New Mahe Grama Panchayat, resulting in the present territorial boundaries of Chokli Grama Panchayat.
